The main temple of classical art occupies one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Its style is also the embodiment of strict classical Greek traditions: the powerful colonnade supports the high gable, which is decorated with plaster bas-reliefs depicting the Muses. For almost a hundred years, every night the stage of the theater has been illuminated by footlights - the curtain rises and ... the show begins. During its long history the Opera and Ballet Theater has staged over 200 performances. Today the stage offers its viewers the masterpieces of national and world classics: operas Manas, Toktogul and Kurmanbek, Boris Godunov, Prince Igor, Eugene Onegin, the Queen of Spades; the ballets Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and many other performances.
